Mr. Rothermel is a registered patent attorney who focuses on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in various industries, including solid state (LED) lighting, materials science, chemistry, telecommunications, and consumer electronics.

He has experience managing a client portfolio of over 500 applications and patents, involving direct client communication and coordination with in-house counsel and foreign law firms. Mr. Rothermel has made multiple visits for extended time periods in South Korea to work directly with clients. His primary job functions entail: revising and filing applications including Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), Patent Prosecution Highway, and Accelerated Examination; drafting claims; responding to Office Actions; conducting Examiner interviews; and writing Appeal briefs. During law school, Mr. Rothermel worked as a patent searcher at the Carnegie Mellon University Center for Technology Transfer. Mr. Rothermel has also worked as a law clerk for a number of firms. As a law clerk, he experienced various kinds of legal matters including patent infringement suits and civil litigation.
